FIELD: electrical engineering; protection of electrical equipment insulation against atmospheric and switching voltage surges.
SUBSTANCE: proposed surge protective device has ribbed external polymeric enclosure and at least one varistor pile disposed between two end electrodes in insulating body. The latter has intermediate cylindrical reticular-surface part and two extreme parts whose outer diameter is greater than that of intermediate part. Body is made of fibrous material impregnated with polymeric binder. At least intermediate part of body is made of cross-wound spiral fibrous material to form windows. External polymeric enclosure is filled with insulating material of one type. Extreme parts of body are produced by additional in-line winding of fibrous material impregnated with polymeric binder.
EFFECT: enhanced operating reliability and explosion safety due to open work and high strength of insulating body; reduced quantity of insulating layers.
