SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in clinical practice when performing transluminal balloon angioplasty of the pulmonary arteries. The method of performing transluminal balloon angioplasty of the pulmonary arteries includes sequentially passing through a radial introducer with a diameter of 6F a diagnostic guide with a J-shaped tip and a guide catheter, passing a coronary guide, which is used to recanalize the affected branch of the pulmonary artery. After successful placement of the coronary guidewire into the bed of the target artery, a balloon catheter is inserted along it and balloon angioplasty of the pulmonary artery branch is performed. Positioning the tip of the guide catheter at the mouth of the target branch of the pulmonary artery is carried out by withdrawing the diagnostic 0.035 guidewire from the catheter by 3–4 cm and passing the J-shaped tip into the mouth of the adjacent branch or until it stops in the pulmonary artery, in the area proximal to the mouth of the target branch of the pulmonary artery, and during the entire balloon angioplasty procedure, the diagnostic guide remains in the established position, and the coronary guide is passed in parallel.
