FIELD: authentication of contents.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of authenticating contents through the walls of a container, such as a beverage, in particular an alcoholic beverage. The claimed method for testing an alcoholic beverage through an at least partially transparent container comprises the steps of: obtaining (80) a fluorescent spectrum of the beverage through the wall of the container; normalizing the profile of the measured spectrum relative to the maximum intensity of the reference spectrum; calculating a similarity index between the measured spectrum and the reference spectrum; and determining (86), in accordance with the obtained similarity index value, whether the drink is genuine. Moreover, the similarity index is calculated in a predetermined wavelength range ranging from 550 to 650 nanometers.
EFFECT: creation of an authentication device that is portable, easy to use and inexpensive, as well as in an authentication method that is reliable and effective.
