SUBSTANCE: present invention is related to a feeding device for feeding a segment (C) of a tobacco product, containing a storage (12) for rods (10C) with a length that is a multiple of the length of the segment (C), a cutting and transport unit (13) located under the hopper (12) for rods (10C), for cutting the rods (10C) into single segments (C), while from a rod (10C), after cutting the rod (10C), a group (G) of segments (C) is formed, a transmission block (15) located under the cutting and transport block (13), adapted for receiving groups (G) of segments (C) and forming a flow (SF) of segments (C) from them, while maintaining spaces (U) between groups (G) of segments (C) in the flow (SF), and the transmission unit (15) is adapted to reduce the gaps (U) between the groups (G), so that at the output (23) of the transmission unit (15), the segments (C) move without gaps. The device in accordance with the present invention is characterized in that it is equipped with a sensor (26) located in the area of the output (23) of the transmission unit (15), while the sensor (26) is adapted to check at least one parameter of the segment (C) from the group parameters, including: the presence of an object (11) in the segment (C), the quality of the object (11) located in the segment (C), the position of the object (11) in the segment (C), the quality of the segment (C).
