FIELD: railroad engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for reducing magnetic field strength in the gap of an insulating joint by means of magnetic shunting. The method includes installing a device on at least one side of the rail, the magnetic resistance of which is less than the magnetic resistance between the ends of the rails, and the magnetic shunting device is made in the form of an attachment section to the side surface of the rail track and a curved section that overlaps the joint from the side surface and is spaced from the rail track surface. In this case, the magnetic shunt device is made of one metal overhead plate, which has fastening areas through standard fastening holes of the joint of a curved section in the form of a circular arc overlapping the joint from the side surface, and elements made of electrical textured sheet steel of longitudinal orientation installed inside the arc.
EFFECT: improved level of protection of magnetic shunting of the insulating joint against the external effects.
