FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology and ultrasound diagnostics.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for ultrasound examination of the pretrochlear part of the superior oblique muscle of the eye. Echography is performed in B-scan mode with a transpalpebral position of the sensor in the lower-outer part of the orbit with the scanning plane oriented at an angle of 45° to the outer bony edge of the orbit. The size of the acoustic section of the muscle is determined in the widest possible place perpendicular to the muscle fibers, first with a straight gaze position, and then with a downward and outward gaze position.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to optimize the choice of treatment tactics by increasing the information content of echography of the pretrochlear part of the superior oblique muscle of the eye when assessing its functional activity by sequential ultrasound scanning of the pretrochlear part of the superior oblique muscle in a relaxed and contracted state.
