SUBSTANCE: following is proposed: a method of identifying proliferating microorganisms in a sample using nucleoside or nucleotide analogues. Also the following is provided: a method of determining the effectiveness of an antimicrobial agent in modulating the growth and proliferation of microorganism(s) in a sample using nucleoside or nucleotide analogues.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to effectively identify proliferating microorganisms in a sample, as well as to determine the effectiveness of an antimicrobial agent in modulating the growth and proliferation of microorganisms.
