FIELD: tobacco industry; aerosol generating systems.

SUBSTANCE: aerosol generating device includes a reservoir configured to receive an aerosol generating substrate. The heating element is configured to heat the substrate generating the aerosol. The power supply is functionally connected to the heating element. The device includes a vessel containing an interior portion configured to receive liquid. The tube is in fluid communication with the vessel and the reservoir. The valve is located between the tube and the air flow outlet of the tank. The valve is configured to prevent liquid from escaping from the interior of the vessel through the valve. The vessel is in fluid communication with the reservoir when the device is in a vertical position. The valve is configured to shut off fluid communication between the vessel and the reservoir when the device is tilted. According to the second embodiment, the aerosol generating device contains a controller and a tilt sensor configured to detect the tilt of the device and send a signal to the controller when the tilt is detected. The controller is configured to receive a signal from the tilt sensor and control electrical components in response to the signal. A method of using a device that generates an aerosol is claimed.
