SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cartridges for containing an aerosol-generating substrate, in particular for use in aerosol generators. A cartridge for housing an aerosol-generating substrate comprises a housing containing one or more walls, and a wall opening in at least one of the one or more walls, a cavity in the housing in fluid communication with at least one wall opening, and a cover connected to the housing with the possibility of rotation. The cover contains an outer edge, a non-electrically conductive material, a first electrical connection point located along the outer edge, a second electrical connection point located along the outer edge, and an electrically conductive material forming an electrically conductive path extending from the first electrical connection point to the second electrical connection point. The cover is configured to move between a first position in which the wall opening is open and a second position in which the wall opening is closed by the cover. The hookah system contains a claimed cartridge with an aerosol-generating substrate and a hookah device containing a reservoir for housing the cartridge, a heating element for heating the aerosol-generating substrate when the cartridge is placed in the reservoir of the hookah device, a vessel having a liquid filling level and defining a free space above the filling level liquid, an aerosol tube for transferring the aerosol from the reservoir to the vessel and an outlet in communication with the free space.

EFFECT: possibility of repeated use or use in one session of a part of the contents without the risk of contamination of the contents or hookah device, as well as the ability for the user to select different mixtures or flavours of the aerosol-generating substrate.
