FIELD: metallurgy; measuring technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and system for determining the temperature of a molten metal bath. It has been shown that the method according to the invention is particularly suitable for repeated measurements of temperature values; i.e., the method allows multiple measurements to be made repeatedly creating new fibre-core cable front lugs. The method includes feeding the front lug in the direction of the bath with molten metal from position p1 at speed v1 during the first period of time from t1 to t2 to position p2 to immersion depth i1 below the surface of the bath with molten metal, feeding the front lug at speed v2 during the second time period from t2 to t3 to position p3 to immersion depth i2 below the surface of the molten metal bath, feeding the front tip at speed v3 during the third time period from t3 to t4 to position p4 to immersion depth i3 below the surface of the molten metal bath. The method further comprises the step of suspending the feed of the front lug or feeding the front lug at speed v4, both during the fourth time period from t4 to t5, and retracting the front lug at speed v5 to a position above the surface of the molten metal bath after time t5. The resulting operation involves obtaining information about the temperature of the molten metal bath during the time period from t2 to t5. A system for determining the temperature of a bath with molten metal for implementing this method is also proposed.
EFFECT: more reliable determination of temperature values in a wide range of application conditions.
