FIELD: catalyst compositions.
SUBSTANCE: methods for preparing olefin polymerization catalyst compositions and polymers prepared therefrom. A composition of a pre-catalyst for the polymerization of olefins is described, containing: a) a chromated silica support containing silica, in which the amount of silica is in the range from 70 wt.% up to 95 wt.% of the total weight of the silica support, and chromium in an amount of 0.1 wt.% up to 5 wt.% in an amount of silica; b) a titanium-containing compound in which the amount of titanium is in the range from 0.1 wt.% up to 20 wt.% in an amount of silica; c) one or more carboxylic acids, where the equivalent molar ratio of titanium-containing compound to carboxylic acids is in the range from 1:1 to 1:4; d) a nitrogen-containing compound, wherein the equivalent molar ratio of titanium-containing compound to nitrogen-containing compound is in the range of 1:0.5 to 1:10; and e) a peroxide-containing compound, wherein the equivalent molar ratio of titanium-containing compound to peroxide-containing compound is in the range of 1:1 to 1:20. Variants of the compositions are also described. Also describes a composition of a pre-catalyst for the polymerization of olefins, obtained by a method including: a) preparing an acidic mixture comprising a solvent and at least three components selected from the group consisting of one or more carboxylic acids, one or more acidic phenols, one or more peroxide-containing compounds and one or more nitrogen-containing compounds; b) reacting the acidic mixture with a chromium-containing compound, a titanium-containing compound and a silica support to form an adduct, wherein: (i) the equivalent molar ratio of the titanium-containing compound to one or more carboxylic acids, if present in the acidic mixture, is between 1:1 to 1:4, (ii) the equivalent molar ratio of the titanium-containing compound to one or more acidic phenols, if present in the acid mixture, is from 1:1 to 1:5, (iii) the equivalent molar ratio of the titanium-containing compound to one or more peroxide-containing compounds, when present in an acidic mixture, is from 1:1 to 1:20; and (iv) the equivalent molar ratio of titanium-containing compound to one or more nitrogen-containing compounds, when present in the acidic mixture, is in the range of 1:0.5 to 1:10; and c) drying the adduct by heating to a temperature in the range of 50°C up to 150°C and maintaining temperatures in the range of 50°C up to 150°C for a period from 30 minutes to 6 hours to form the pre-catalyst.
EFFECT: cost reduction for the production of olefin polymerization catalysts.
