FIELD: meteorology.

SUBSTANCE: active influences to suppress hail in powerful convective clouds, to redistribute precipitation fields from convective clouds. A combined aviation method for suppressing the development of convective clouds is to identify a potentially dangerous cumulonimbus cloud using ground-based radar. Based on visual observations from the aircraft, the chain of feeder cells feeding it is determined. Then an active influence is carried out on the feeding feeder cells, while in order to form downward flows in them, the influence is carried out by discharging portions of a coarsely dispersed hygroscopic reagent. To enhance recirculation of cloud particles in the region of optimal temperatures -6 °C…-12 °C, portions of 25-30 kg of coarse-hygroscopic reagent are discharged along the line of the visual periphery of the feeder cells from at least one aircraft into the area of already existing downward flows in the feeder cells at altitudes of 5-6 km every 2-3 km along the aircraft's route and additionally a squib containing AgI is shot vertically down into the first feeder cell from the cumulonimbus cloud every kilometre of the aircraft's route. Through these two combined effects, using the mechanism of accelerating the process of precipitation in the seeded feeder cells, the effect of suppressing upward movements is achieved not only in the feeder cells, but also in the cumulonimbus cloud itself.

EFFECT: improved efficiency of protection against hail.
