FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the form and method of making shower trays with non-planar cross-section using ceramic powder "P". Mold (ST) comprises lower half-mould (I) and upper half-mould (S). Lower half-mould (I) has rigid support (1) containing at least one mounting seat (2), deformable membrane (3) resting on rigid support (1) and intended for determining surface (4) for applying a layer of ceramic powder (P), at least one insert (5) made with possibility of movement in mounting seat (2). Insert (5) is located between said rigid support (1) and said deformable membrane (3) and is made with possibility of movement perpendicular to application surface (4). Said lower half-mould (I) is configured to accept a pressing configuration, in which said insert (5) is fully inserted into said seat (2), and said application surface (4) has a flat configuration, and an application configuration, in which said insert (5) is at least partially removed from the mounting seat, locally lifting said application surface (4) so as to deform application surface (4) in accordance with a non-planar configuration. Upper half-mould (S) comprises pressure surface (6) having a shape which is mirror-like with respect to the shape assumed by the application surface when the lower half-mould (I) is in application configuration, and configured to rest against application surface (4) when lower half-mould (I) is in pressing configuration. Also described is a method of making ceramic articles from ceramic powder (P) using said mould (ST), involving preparation of a ceramic mixture, preferably a mixture of porcelain stoneware, preparation of a mould (ST). Insert (5) is moved at the outlet of mounting seat (2), lifting the deformable membrane so as to deform application surface (4). Ceramic mixture is applied on said application surface (4). Insert (5) is moved by completely inserting it into seat (2) so as to move application surface (4) into a flat configuration so that a free surface having a shape corresponding to pressure surface (6) is obtained. Upper half-mould (S) is moved in the direction of the lower half-mould (I) so as to compress the ceramic mixture to form a semi-finished ceramic article. Said semi-finished ceramic article is glazed with coating products applied by wet method, preferably by screen printing or jet means. Said semi-finished ceramic article is fired to form a shower tray.
EFFECT: wider range of products for making shower trays and faster production thereof.
