FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and apparatus for making ceramic articles. Method includes a feeding step, a compaction step and a printing step. At that, during the feeding step, a mixture of at least two ceramic powders with different properties and/or colors is produced to produce a strip of powder material. At the compaction step the strip of powder material is compacted to produce a layer of compacted powder having corresponding chromatic effects of the surface and corresponding chromatic effects as to thickness. At the printing step, graphic decoration of the compacted powder layer is made to make it more similar to the natural product. Printing step further includes obtaining an image of the surface of the compacted powder layer, which reproduces the corresponding chromatic effects of the surface. Further, said surface image is processed to obtain graphic decoration for application on the layer surface of compacted powder which is matched with corresponding chromatic effects in thickness. Printing of graphic decoration on surface of layer (CPL) of compacted powder is performed.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of powders distribution and increased efficiency of synchronization between chromatic effects produced by thickness, and chromatic effects of surface.
