FIELD: mechanical processing of metals.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to metal working and can be used to monitor use and wear of tools for machining. Electronic monitoring system comprises a label with a unique identifier (ID) for each instrument and an independent and self-contained electronic monitoring device intended for a strong and detachable connection to a tool drive for monitoring use and wear of the tool. Electronic monitoring device comprises an electronic sensor device for identifying a tool and monitoring its use and wear, an electronic interface for communication with a remote tool control centre and an electronic control unit connected to an electronic sensor device, an electronic communication interface and an electronic operator interface. Proposed system enables to identify and monitor the use and wear of tools based on the output data of the electronic sensor device, as well as to estimate residual service life with possibility, if necessary, to act on drive device of tool to interrupt its operation.
EFFECT: use of inventions makes it possible to increase reliability and accuracy of performed monitoring.
