SUBSTANCE: hookah devices for holding aerosol-generating cartridges. The tray for use with a hookah device includes a housing defining a cavity for housing a cartridge containing an aerosol-generating substrate. The cavity has an open upper end into which the cartridge can be inserted, and has a lower end. The housing contains a side wall forming the inner surface of the cavity. The piercing element extends into the cavity from the lower end of the cavity. The piercing element is placed with the possibility of piercing the cartridge on the first surface. The cartridge is inserted into the cavity of the tray, and a force is applied to the cartridge causing the first surface of the cartridge to move toward the lower end of the cavity. The housing contains an outer wall. The second cavity is formed between the outer wall and the side wall, which forms the inner surface of the cavity. The second cavity is configured to engage with a part of the hookah device.

EFFECT: eliminating accidental contact of the user with the contents of the cartridge when using it in a hookah device.
