FIELD: nuclear power engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and can be used in handling radioactive wastes for processing by thermal methods. Method of processing radioactive wastes involves thermal decomposition of radioactive wastes, afterburning of gaseous pyrolysis products and cleaning off gases. Radioactive wastes are preheated at t 80-120 °C in drying reactor. Then they are sent to a pyrolysis reactor, in which radioactive wastes are thermally decomposed at t in range from 400 to 450 °C in an inert gas medium with constant activation of the process of processing wastes by a mechanical method.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to reduce the amount of radioactive wastes as much as possible while maintaining a minimum value of entrainment of radionuclides with exhaust pyrolysis gases.
