FIELD: medicine; radiation medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to determine radiation-induced atherosclerotic vascular injury in workers employed in hazardous working conditions at a radiation-hazardous enterprise. Concentration of apolipoprotein B, superoxide dismutase, monocytic chemotactic factor 1, vascular molecule of cell adhesion 1 and endothelin 1 are determined in blood serum of an employee of a radiation hazardous enterprise. Obtained values are compared with the confidence intervals obtained in the control group, formed from clinically healthy individuals who have never been exposed to occupational radiation, not participating in elimination of consequences of radiation accidents, not living on radiation-contaminated territories and not exposed to radiotherapy. If the obtained values are outside the confidence intervals for the average values in the control group: for apolipoprotein B — 1.44–1.73 mg/ml, for superoxide dismutase — 2.2–2.7 ng/ml, for monocytic chemotactic factor 1 — 323.6–455.8 ng/ml, for vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 — 407.1–597.4 ng/ml, for endothelin 1 — 5.6–6.7 ng/ml, presence of radiation-induced atherosclerotic vascular involvement is determined.
EFFECT: method enables to create a convenient, effective, relatively inexpensive method of indicating radiation-induced atherosclerosis in nuclear workers exposed to chronic radiation with a low dose rate, by determining blood concentration of superoxide cismutase, apolipoprotein B, monocytic chemotactic factor 1, vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 and endothelin 1 — markers involved in the pathogenetic mechanism of atherosclerosis.
