FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly to methods of repairing cracks in church bells by remelting. Bell is enclosed in a sealed capsule consisting of two parts: inner and outer shells tightly adjacent to its surface. Inside the bell, between its surface and inner shell, a layer of damping material is placed, which during heating will be compressed, thus allowing the melt to take up free space. Remelting is carried out in an electric furnace in which heat is supplied from inside the bell during heating, and after its melting it is removed from the outside. Upon completion of remelting, the capsule is carefully removed from it and inspected for presence of defects, after which finishing treatment is started.
EFFECT: invention makes it possible to repair the bell without using an expensive gasostatic extruder and at the same time to preserve the appearance of the bell without changes.
