FIELD: smoking accessories.

SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to an aerosol-generating device for generating an aerosol by induction heating an aerosol-forming substrate. Invention further relates to an aerosol-generating system comprising such a device and an aerosol-generating article, wherein said article comprises an aerosol-forming substrate to be heated. Device comprises a first resonant LC circuit and a second resonant LC circuit, wherein the first resonant LC circuit has a first resonant frequency, and the second resonant LC circuit has a second resonant frequency different from the first resonant frequency. Control circuit further comprises a generator excitation circuit comprising a generator coil inductively coupled to induction coils for selectively generating an alternating magnetic field of the generator either with a first resonant frequency, or with a second resonance frequency, so that an alternating magnetic field is generated for selective heating of different sections of the current collector or different current collectors in different sections of the device.

EFFECT: invention further relates to an aerosol-generating system comprising such a device and an aerosol-generating article, wherein said article comprises an aerosol-forming substrate to be heated.
