SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an aerosol-generating article. Product contains an aerosol-generating substrate containing nicotine and containing at least 10% by weight of an aerosol-forming substance, and a wrapper arranged around the aerosol-generating substrate. Wrapper contains a paper layer containing polyvinyl alcohol or siloxane and having a water wetting angle of at least 30 degrees.

EFFECT: invention enables to provide a visually and mechanically stable wrapped substrate, to provide an aerosol-generating article comprising a wrapper which does not swell when absorbing water or compounds contained in the aerosol-generating substrate, wherein the wrapper is not easily burnt when located near the heating element, provides a fat barrier for fatty compounds contained in an aerosol-generating substrate and does not affect the taste of the aerosol generated by the aerosol-generating article.
