FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to pathological anatomy, and can be used to assess histological material obtained using vacuum-assisted biopsy (VAB) for removal of breast tumour bed in patients diagnosed with breast cancer of HER2-positive or thrice-negative subtype after conducted neoadjuvant systemic therapy (NST). For this purpose, the entire volume of histological material is intraoperatively distributed into conditional external and internal contours according to marked histological cassettes, 6–12 samples for each contour depending on the size and volume of the residual tumour. Biopsy material of sentinel lymph nodes is marked separately. Macro- and microscopic examinations are performed, including visualization and removal of a radiopaque marker inserted into the tumour before the beginning of the NST. Fixation, delivery of material, calculation of tumour cellularity is performed using calculator of residual tumour load RCB. Presence or absence of tumour cells is then assessed using the MillerPayne system. Absence of tumour cells in the entire volume of the marked histological material is considered to be a complete pathomorphological response of the tumour to NST.
EFFECT: invention improves the objectivity of the study, enables to determine the spatial location of the residual tumour in the fragmented material after PSA due to the distribution of the material on the contours.
