METHOD FOR DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF MULTIFOCAL MOTOR NEUROPATHY AND MULTIFOCAL VARIANT OF CHRONIC INFLAMMATORY DEMYELINATING POLYRADICULONEUROPATHY Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61B8/00

Abstract RU 2819523 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, in particular to neurology and ultrasound diagnostics, and can be used for differential diagnosis of multifocal motor neuropathy and multifocal variant of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy using an ultrasonic technique for examining peripheral nerves. Differential diagnosis of multifocal motor neuropathy and multifocal variant of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy is carried out by ultrasonic examination of a median nerve. Median nerve is examined from both sides in a transverse plane at the level of the lower and upper one-third of the forearm, at the level of the elbow, at the level of the lower and upper one-third of the shoulder, as well as in the axillary fossa in real time. Cross-sectional area (CSA) of the median nerve on the right and on the left is assessed in mm2. If the CSA value is equal to or more than 8.10 mm2, at the level of the lower one-third of the forearm, CSA value equal to and more than 7.25 mm2, at the level of upper one-third of forearm, with a value of CSA equal to or more than 9.9 mm2, at the level of the elbow bend, with a value of CSA equal to or more than 11.65 mm2, at the level of the lower one-third of the shoulder, with CSA value equal to or more than 12.55 mm2, at the level of upper one-third of the shoulder, if the CSA value is 12.6 mm2 or more, the multifocal variant of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy is diagnosed in the axillary fossa. If the CSA value is less than 8.10 mm2, at the level of the lower one-third of the forearm, CSA value less than 7.25 mm2, at the level of upper one-third of forearm, if the CSA value is less than 9.9 mm2, at the level of the elbow bend, with value of CSA less than 11.65 mm2, at level of lower one-third of shoulder, if the CSA value is less than 12.55 mm2, at the level of the upper one-third of the shoulder, if the CSA value is less than 12.6 mm2, in the axillary fossa, multifocal motor neuropathy is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides reliable results of differential diagnosis of multifocal motor neuropathy and multifocal variant of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy by assessing the CSA of the median nerve.
