FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a modular design of a gamma-radiation detection unit. Gamma-radiation detection unit consists of two separate modules: an electronics unit and a replaceable cartridge containing an identifier card and two Geiger-Muller gas-discharge counters. Electronics unit has a power supply, a shaping amplifier, an information processing and storage device and an identification device. Communication of modules and power supply of replaceable cartridge is carried out by means of sealed high-voltage connectors. Correction coefficients are transmitted by reading information from an identifier card attached to each replaceable cartridge. In order to determine compliance of the identifier card with a certain replaceable cartridge, numbers are applied on them. Identification device is installed in the electronics unit, which reads values of correction coefficients and enters them into the information processing and storage device.

EFFECT: possibility of rapid replacement of a replaceable cartridge containing detecting elements with a new one while reducing the time for stopping measurements for replacing the replaceable cartridge and setting the detection unit to no more than 10 minutes.
