FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power generation devices, methods of power generation, products for use in power generation devices and methods of producing power generation devices. Device for power generation comprises at least one cell containing: first and second spaced apart electrodes, where the first electrode contains material with low work function and the second electrode contains material with high work function, and located between the first and second electrodes radionuclides emitting beta particles, and a semiconductor material comprising a semiconductor polymer or a semiconductor polymer composite capable of generating electron-hole pairs in response to radiation of beta particles from radionuclides.
EFFECT: possibility of using radioactive materials, which were previously considered to be wastes, for production of electric power with possibility of more accurately providing the required service life of beta-voltaic devices with increased resistance of devices to radiation damages and heat released during radionuclide decay.
