FIELD: various technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods of producing a catalyst for hydrogenating ethylene. Disclosed is a method of producing a catalyst for hydrogenating ethylene based on cobalt nanowires by applying a copper layer of 50 nm on one of the surfaces of the growth polymer matrix, further, using an electrochemical method, using a copper electrolyte solution to build up a copper layer to thickness of 50–70 mcm, with subsequent filling of matrix pores with cobalt using galvanic deposition of aqueous electrolyte solution containing CoSO4 – from 100 to 300 g/l, H3BO3 – from 10 to 50 g/l, up to complete filling of matrix pores with cobalt, using a cobalt anode in a potentiostatic mode at potential of 0.6 to 1.2 V, controlling the degree of filling of the pores by the passed charge, upon completion of the process of deposition of cobalt in the pores of the matrix, the latter is removed by etching in an alkali solution containing 200–300 g/l of NaOH at temperature of 60 degrees Celsius for 2–3 hours, followed by washing in distilled water and drying.

EFFECT: development of a catalyst for hydrogenation of ethylene based on cobalt nanowires.
