FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst composition for oligomerisation of ethylene to 1-hexene, which contains: chromium (III) compound; and a ligand of formula (1), where R1 and R2 are the same or different; and each independently represent C5-C7 cyclic hydrocarbon group or C5-C7 substituted cyclic hydrocarbon group, and where n is 0 or 1, and m = n + 3. Invention also relates to a method for oligomerisation of ethylene to 1-hexene.
EFFECT: catalyst provides high selectivity of oligomerisation to 1-hexene, but not to 1-octene.
