SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol-generating article, an aerosol-generating substrate, a method for manufacturing thereof, an aerosol-generating system and an aerosol obtained by heating the aerosol-generating substrate. Aerosol-generating article (1000), (4000a, 4000b), (5000) comprises aerosol-generating substrate (1020), wherein the aerosol-generating substrate comprises a homogenised ginger-based material containing ginger particles, an aerosol-forming substance and a binder, wherein aerosol-generating substrate (1020), (4020a, 4020b), (5020) contains: at least 10 micrograms of [6]-gingerol per gram of substrate in terms of dry weight; at least 90 micrograms of [10]-gingerol per gram of substrate in terms of dry weight; at least 70 micrograms of [10]-shogaol per gram of substrate in terms of dry weight; at least 30 micrograms of [8]-shogaol per gram of substrate in terms of dry weight; and at least 80 micrograms of [6]-shogaol per gram of substrate in terms of dry weight.

EFFECT: enabling production of an aerosol-generating substrate which has low levels of undesirable aerosol compounds compared to existing aerosol-generating substrates containing only tobacco.
