SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of determining data on the size of an object in the form of a plate or in the form of a thread. When implementing the method, terahertz radiation is emitted by the first transmitter on the surface of the object and the radiation is received by the first receiver after passing through the object at least once. Besides, terahertz radiation with frequency band less than 5 % of carrier frequency of terahertz radiation is emitted by means of the second transmitter to the object surface. Terahertz radiation emitted by the second transmitter is received by the second receiver after at least one passage of radiation through the object. Size of the object is determined from the terahertz radiation received from the second transmitter, taking into account the terahertz radiation received by the first receiver.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring absolute values of size and its fluctuations.
