FIELD: defect detection.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a method and device for detecting defects in a product in the form of a thread moving along the direction of movement. When implementing the device and method, terahertz radiation is emitted by at least one transmitter onto a thread-shaped product moving along the direction of movement, and terahertz radiation reflected from the thread-shaped product is received by at least one receiver, based on a temporary change in the terahertz radiation signal, received by said at least one receiver, a conclusion is made about the presence of a defect in the product in the form of a thread.
EFFECT: increasing the accuracy of defect detection.
