Device for detecting an object moved by a transporting device through a measurement zone of the device, comprising said transporting device, a transmitting device configured to emit measurement radiation with a frequency in the gigahertz or terahertz range on the outer contour of the object, and a receiving device configured to receive measuring radiation reflected from the object between the transmitting device and/or the receiving device, on one side, and measurement zone, on the other side, there is a protective grid, transparent for measurement radiation and permeable for gas, wherein said device incorporates additionally a purge device to purge the protective grid with a purge gas.

EFFECT: providing reliability of measurement results in a complex environment.
