FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrochemical sensors (or sensors), which are resistant to corrosive substances present in sea water or industrial waters, used to detect compounds in water. Method of making an electrode with a polymer matrix includes: adding to the polymer matrix in liquid form an electroconductive metallic and/or non-metallic material, where the polymer matrix is selected from the group consisting of the following components: acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, ethyl vinyl acetate, polyacetal, polyamide 6, polyamide 12, polyamide 66, polyamide, polybutylene terephthalate, polycarbonate, polyether ketone, polyether ether ketone, polyether sulphone, polyethylene, low density polyethylene, high-density polyethylene, polyphenylene sulphide, polyoxymethylene, polypropylene homopolymer or copolymer, polyvinylidene fluoride, and any possible combinations thereof; electroconductive metallic and/or non-metallic material is selected from a group consisting of the following components: carbon, graphene, fullerene, silver, copper, gold, aluminium, zinc, chromium, tin, iridium, tungsten, nickel, iron, platinum, lead, zinc oxide doped with aluminium (AZO), indium tin oxide (ITO), a conductive ceramic, wherein said electrically conductive metal and/or non-metal material is added in amount of 0.00% to 40%, optionally in amount of 0.1–35% with respect to the polymer material, more preferably in amount of 1–30%, where: carbon is in form of carbon fibre, carbon nanofibre, carbon nanotubes, soot, carbon nanoclay or carbon nanorods, graphene is in form of graphene, graphene oxide, graphene nanoplates or fullerene; metal is in form of powder, dispersion, gel, particles, microparticles or nanoparticles and/or nanowires; conducting ceramics is in form of powder, dispersion, gel, particles, microparticles or nanoparticles and/or nanowires; holding the resulting mixture while stirring for 1–120 minutes and placing the mixed mixture into a mould.
EFFECT: creation of new counter electrodes which are not subject to corrosion in industrial and sea waters.
