FIELD: foundry.
SUBSTANCE: method of controlling the melt crystallisation process under conditions of double-sided compression involves overheating of the metal melt by 150 °C is higher than melting point, its pouring into evacuated mould, heated to 250 °C, pressure testing under pressure of 500 MPa with holding for 30 s, extraction and cooling of the casting. Pressure is applied to metal by two plungers moving towards each other. Information on temperature from thermocouples (1, 2), installed in parts of the mould at depth of 5 mm to the forming cavity, is transmitted to a programmable logic controller (PLC), then to an automated workstation (AWS) and compared with a given temperature. Signal on mismatch between preset and actual temperatures is sent to pressure regulators (PR) of working fluid supply to hydraulic cylinders (3, 4). Regulators (PR) set travel speed and created pressure of each plunger. Each plunger at decrease and increase of created pressure influences intensity of heat release.
EFFECT: control over formation of mechanical and structural properties of casting in real time.
