FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of metallurgy and can be used in manufacture of pistons of internal combustion engines. The method for producing workpieces of pistons of internal combustion engines from hypereutectic aluminium alloys includes preparing an aluminium melt with a silicon content of at least 12%, overheating said alloy by 150°C above the melting point, and casting into a vacuum-filled mould heated to 200°C. Pressure is applied to the crystallising metal, with an increase in the pressure value up to 500 MPa, the metal is sustained under pressure for 60 seconds and removed from the mould, followed by cooling the workpiece in water at 20°C. The pressure in the hydraulic system of the mould is maintained at the set level by means of a frequency converter (FC) integrated in the control system thereof, information whereto is supplied from a thermocouple mounted in the cavity of the mould and brought in contact with the liquid metal.
EFFECT: reduction in the amount of casting defects due to the control of the formation of mechanical and structural properties of aluminium alloys with a high content of silicon.
