FIELD: electric power industry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to power engineering and is used to determine the point of damage on overhead power transmission lines (OPTL). Result is achieved by the fact that a method is proposed for determining the point of damage on an overhead transmission line by measuring currents from its two ends, having a complex resistance of the direct, reverse and zero sequences length L connecting two supply systems, in which at both ends of the line are measured complex phase currents (I'A,I'B,I'C), (I"A,I"B,I"C) of the main frequency at the moment of short circuit (SC), the phase currents are converted into symmetrical components of the complex currents of the direct, reverse and zero sequences (I'1,I'2,I'0), (I"1,I"2,I"0), characterized in that before the method implementation, the damage is recorded in the voltage measuring circuits, purely emergency currents are obtained at the ends of the overhead power transmission line by subtraction from the direct sequence current at short-circuit current of the same sequence in the pre-emergency mode, expressions for calculating the distance to the point of damage l with respect to the complex stress at the point of damage are formed with their subsequent combination into a vector-matrix expression.
EFFECT: development of accurate method for determination of short circuit point on overhead transmission line by measurements of currents only from its two ends.
