SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of an aqueous dispersion of high-purity aluminum oxide hydroxide, which is used to produce industrial catalysts, sorbents, fillers, sol-gel ceramics, refractory materials, control of rheology and surface friction. Method involves two-step synthesis of aluminum oxide hydroxide, its separation from the water-organic phase by filtration and dispersion in water. At the same time, at the first step, a reaction is carried out between powdered aluminum, hydrogen and ethylene to form aluminum alkyls, which are subjected to distillation to separate solid and non-volatile impurities, then, the length of the alkyl chain is increased in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent and ethylene and oxidation is carried out to obtain aluminum alkoxides or alkoxides with an admixture of aluminum alkyls. At the second stage, their hydrolysis is carried out. Hydrolysis is carried out in the presence of carbon dioxide at varying pressure from 2 to 60 atm to obtain a suspension of aluminum oxide hydroxide in an aqueous-organic mixture.
EFFECT: obtaining an aqueous dispersion of high-purity aluminum oxide hydroxide.
