FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in producing highly pure aluminium oxide. An aluminium isopropoxide hydrolysis method includes reacting aluminium isopropoxide with an isopropyl alcohol solution in water with intense mixing. A suspension is obtained, which contains aluminium hydroxide and dry isopropyl alcohol with trace amounts of water. The initial mixture fed for hydrolysis has the following composition, wt %: aluminium isopropoxide 15.7-52.7, isopropyl alcohol solution in water 84.3-47.3, including isopropyl alcohol 80.1-33.1, water 4.2-14.2. The formed suspension has the following composition, wt %: isopropyl alcohol 93.9-79.6, water 0.0-0.3, aluminium hydroxide 6.0-20.1.
EFFECT: invention enables to avoid steps of filtering, drying aluminium hydroxide and separating isopropyl alcohol and water after hydrolysis and enables to obtain fine aluminium hydroxide powder.
