SUBSTANCE: described is a group of inventions comprising a compound or a salt thereof, specifically inhibiting the expression of apo(a) nucleic acid and/or apo(a) protein, a composition for treating, preventing or slowing down the progression of a disease associated with increased expression of apo(a) and/or increased expression of Lp(a), containing a therapeutically effective amount of a compound, method of preventing, treating, relieving or slowing down the progression of a disease associated with increased expression of apo(a) and/or increased expression of Lp(a), comprising administering said compound or composition to an animal and use of the compound for treating, preventing or delaying the progression of a disease associated with apo(a) overexpression and/or Lp(a) overexpression. In one embodiment of the invention, the compound contains a modified oligonucleotide and a conjugating group, wherein the modified oligonucleotide consists of 12–30 linked nucleosides and is complementary to the nucleic acid apo(a).
EFFECT: invention extends the range of agents for inhibiting expression of apo(a) nucleic acid and/or apo(a) protein.
