FIELD: measurement; rail vehicles.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to means and methods for determining the distance from the point of connection to the rail circuit to the wheel pair of a railway rolling stock. In the method, two pairs of frequencies are continuously and successively formed using a controlled generator: one pair of low frequencies and one pair of high frequencies. Measuring the effective values of voltages and currents at the output of the generator for each generated frequency; values of input resistance of the rail line for each frequency are determined as the ratio of the effective value of voltage to the effective value of current at the same frequency. Rail line inductance is determined at low frequencies and at high frequencies, and the final distance to the wheel pair of the railway rolling stock is determined. Device comprises a control unit; controlled generator; amplifier; transformer; selective voltage meter, tuned to the frequency of signals generated by the controlled generator; selective current meter tuned to frequency of signals generated by controlled generator; measuring shunt; switching unit; measuring shunt selection unit; unit for calculating distance to wheel pair of railway rolling stock; measurement results recording unit; modem.
EFFECT: higher accuracy of measurement the distance from the point of connection to the rail circuit to the wheel pair.
