FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, and can be used for restoration of integrity of sternum after median sternotomy in patients with high risk of sternum degeneration. On both sides, the parasternal sternum-strengthening ligatures are applied, passing successively over and under the ribs as close as possible to the sternum. Then, a transsternal ligature is applied on the sternum. Then one-side circlage ligatures are applied distal to the sternum with a hold of the reinforcing ligatures. Further, two adjacent ligatures are alternately twisted on one side and then on the other side of sternotomy access, bringing the ends of the sternum cutting to each other. Twisted ligatures located on one side and on the other side of sternotomy access are twisted to complete comparison of sternum edges, creating rigid fixation of sternum. Lastly, the constrictive parasternal ligatures are twisted at the proximal and distal ends of the sternum.

EFFECT: method provides reducing a risk of developing sternum dehiscence, preventing premature suturing incision, achieving uniform distribution of load along the entire suture line in the patients with a high risk of degassing by a sequence of ligatures.
