FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to cardiovascular surgery, and can be used for treating complicated instability of the sternum after cardiac surgery operation performed through a median sternotomy. Two mesh titanium plates are placed longitudinally on the anterior and posterior surfaces of each half of the sternum and steel wires are passed through the holes in the plates and the bone. Adjacent unilateral wire pairs are twisted over the anterior surface of each half of the sternum and the resulting contralateral twists are twisted over the sternotomy line.
EFFECT: method allows achieving transverse stabilisation of the cutting line both along the anterior and posterior surfaces of the sternum, strengthening both bone plates, performing rigid bone reposition along all planes and restoring the shell of the thoracic cage more efficiently, as well as minimising the probability of bone cutting by wire sutures due to a combination of techniques according to the claimed invention.
