FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to therapy, cardiology, clinical immunology and allergology, and can be used to predict progression of atherosclerosis of lower extremity arteries. Patient's clinical parameters are assessed: sex, age, smoking status, and immunological marker—determining the number of TLR4-positive intermediate monocytes in patient's blood. To calculate P—probability of atherosclerosis progression of lower extremities, formula is used: P=1/(1+e(−a)), where a=−1.1590+(sex·1.0512)−(0.1473·smoking)+(0.3747·age)+(0.6647·mono); sex—sex: 1—male or 0—female; smoking—smoking status: 1—yes or 0—no; age—age, ((age in years)—50.41584)/6.47961; monocytes (mono)—number of TLR4-positive intermediate monocytes, cells/mcl, (monocytes—380.495)/166.9361. If P is more than 0.5, progression of atherosclerosis of lower extremity arteries is predicted. If P is less than 0.5, no progression of atherosclerosis of lower extremities is predicted.
EFFECT: method enables to predict progression of subclinical atherosclerosis of lower extremity arteries by assessing, in addition to traditional cardiovascular risk factors: sex, age, smoking status, as well as the number of circulating blood monocytes.
