FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to neurosurgery, radiation diagnostics and can be used to determine linear discriminant functions (LDF 1,2,3) by formulas, where indicators characterizing change in configuration of cerebrospinal fluid-conducting spaces and brain matter are used, such as: Evans ventriculocranial index, width of III ventricle, average size (width) of temporal horns of lateral ventricles, widening of lateral (sylvian) fissures, narrowing of parafalcine and convexital subarachnoid spaces, presence of disproportionate expansion of subarachnoid spaces, local expansion of convexital furrows, angle value of corpus callosum, changes in periventricular region, expansion of perivascular spaces, subcortical gliosis, cerebral atrophy. If LDF1>LDF2, LDF3, idiopathic normotensive hydrocephalus is diagnosed in the patients. If LDF2>LDF1, LDF3, degenerative or vascular brain disease is diagnosed in the patients. If LDF3>LDF1, LDF2, there is no idiopathic normotensive hydrocephalus and degenerative or vascular diseases of the brain.
EFFECT: method enables increasing the accuracy of the differential preoperative diagnosis of idiopathic normotensive hydrocephaly, optimizing the preoperative differential diagnostic algorithm and selecting the patients for the cerebrospinal fluid shunting by determining the linear discriminant functions.
