SUBSTANCE: described is a genetic marker of American mink fur colouring, which in a homozygous state determines the pastel fur colour, which is an insertion of an endogenous retroviral element in the first intron of the mink HPS3 gene. Disclosed is a method of detecting an individual of the American mink, which is a carrier of at least one allele, which causes formation of pastel fur colour, including genotyping of an animal by gene HPS3, namely detection of presence and quantity or absence of a genetic marker. Disclosed is the use of the method for selecting individuals of the American mink, which are a carrier of at least one allele, which determines the formation of pastel fur colour, among the available livestock of farm minks.
EFFECT: faster and less labour-intensive method of selecting individuals of American mink, carriers of genetic marker of pastel fur colouring.
