SUBSTANCE: invention relates to agriculture, in particular to zootechnics, can be used in breeding, selection in breeding farms. Invention is aimed at accelerating the selection process and increasing the efficiency of breeding sows by reproductive qualities, in particular, at increasing multiple pregnancy. Substance of the method consists in selection from sows with first farrowing with high BLUP index (not lower than 115.0 units) of gilts with genotype ESR BB by gene of prolactin receptor associated with high multiple pregnancy of sows at 28–30 days of age.

EFFECT: proposed method will make it possible to speed up the selection process when creating pig herds with high genetic potential of reproductive qualities by 1.5 times due to selection of gilts from sows after the first farrowing.
