FIELD: organic chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of 6-styryl-4-trifluoromethyl-2-thioxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitriles of general formula (1), where R1=H, R2=H, R3=H or R1=H, R2=H, R3=OH, which can be used in photovoltaics, molecular electronics, nonlinear optics, photorefractive devices, laser and sensor equipment, as well as in synthesis of compounds with anticancer, antimicrobial and antiviral properties. Method involves reaction of 6-methyl-2-thioxo-4-trifluoromethyl-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitrile with benzaldehyde or 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde in 1,4-dioxane medium in the presence of pyrrolidine at temperature of 70–80 °C for 10–12 hours, the reaction mass is diluted with water, acidified with diluted hydrochloric acid and the precipitate is filtered.

EFFECT: obtaining target products with output of 69–75%.
