FIELD: laser technologies.

SUBSTANCE: method of igniting optical discharge consists in gas breakdown with formation of plasma region, carried out by focusing radiation of supporting and igniting lasers in discharge chamber, it differs from known designs in that radiation of the igniting laser is focused by a lens in the discharge chamber so as to get the focus into the region of the ignited optical discharge; the lens is simultaneously shifted perpendicular to the axis of the igniting beam and rotated around the axis of the igniting beam.

EFFECT: reduction of optical discharge ignition time.
