FIELD: measuring.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measurement equipment and relates to a method for spectrophotometric determination of critical concentration of micelle formation of polyoxyethylated alkylphenols. Method includes preparing a series of aqueous solutions of nonionic surfactants, recording their absorption spectra in range of 230-300 nm, plotting the concentration dependence of the spectral characteristic of the absorption curves in the form of a graph, determining the value of the critical micelle concentration by finding an inflection point on the graph. Series of aqueous solutions are prepared with concentration step of 0.02 mM. Absorption spectra are recorded with scanning pitch of 0.1 nm. Further, the position of the absorption maximum λmax is determined, which is used to plot concentration dependence. To determine the inflection point, points with a constant value λmax are found on the graph, connecting them with a straight line parallel to the abscissa axis, then determining points with a constantly increasing value λmax, nm, connecting them with a straight line. Inflection point is defined as the point of intersection of two constructed straight lines.
EFFECT: high accuracy of measuring critical concentration of micelle formation.
