FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to preparation of purified vanadium oxotrichloride from vanadium-containing refined tails. Method includes the following stages, at which vanadium-containing refined tails are treated at 500–800 °C in inert gas or nitrogen with heat insulation for 30–120 minutes to obtain pretreated tails, pretreated tails are cooled and mixed oxygen gas is continuously introduced and chlorine gas for the reaction, the mixed gas after the reaction is removed and condensation is carried out at a temperature of −20 °C to 5 °C, a condensation liquid is obtained, which is crude vanadium oxotrichloride, crude vanadium oxotrichloride is filtered, removing solid impurities, and purified vanadium oxotrichloride is obtained.
EFFECT: method enables chlorination of vanadium at low temperatures, solving problems of controlling the process and simultaneous chlorination of impurities associated with high-temperature chlorination, reducing power consumption and requirements for equipment and preparing purified vanadium oxotrichloride.
