FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions refers to inorganic synthesis. To produce high purity vanadium tetroxide, industrial grade vanadium pentoxide is converted to vanadium oxytrichloride by low-temperature chlorination in a fluidized bed. Chlorinating gas is preheated by heat exchange between the fluidizing gas and the flue gas. Air is added to allow combustion of a portion of the carbon powder. Vanadium oxytrichloride is purified by rectification, is subjected to gas phase hydrolysis in a fluidized bed to obtain a product of high purity vanadium pentoxide and, as a by-product, a solution of hydrochloric acid. Next, a high purity vanadium tetroxide powder product is obtained by reduction with hydrogen in a fluidized bed.

EFFECT: ensured absence of contaminated sewage, reduced energy consumption and consumption of chlorine in production, stable quality of the product.
